How not to get your new car stolen
The rate that some cars are stolen is very alarming and disconcerting. While many
steps can be taken to reduce the chance of having your vehicle stolen, sometimes
just owning a certain make and model can change the likelihood.
Here are a few tips that you can use to decrease the chances of being a victim of
a car thief:
• Never leave your car running unattended
• Never leave any keys in hide-a-key boxes
• Never leave any keys in the car or ignition
• Never leave valuables in plain view
• Always park in well-lighted, high-traffic areas
• Never leave any keys inside a locked garage
• Always roll up your windows and lock the car
• Install a device that locks the steering wheel, column, and brakes.
• Purchase a vehicle theft tracking/security system
• If your vehicle is stolen, report it to the police immediately.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and the Highway Loss Data Institute states
the model years 2003 through 2005 Cadillac Escalade EXT and Cadillac Escalade 4dr
have a theft claim rate seven to eight times the average for all cars.
